Welcome back Kotter.

Yeah, it's been a while.

It's been a crazy summer where plans were made, changed, remade, and changed again. I was going to work in Ireland, I wasn't, then I was, then I decided not to.

I'm here in New York, kicking like always. I have moved from the Bronx to Manhattan (cue other 1970s sitcom music) to the Washington Heights neighborhood. I'm just north of Harlem at 150th street and I have a great view of Yankee Stadium (old and new) just across the Harlem river. I'm not too far from my original New York roots.

I got a job, but the only downside is the location: New Jersey. I call it purgatory, because you're almost in New York, but not quite, having only a spectacular view reminding you what you're missing out on. That's why I'm living in NYC, so that I can partake in the wonders isle.

So why I'm posting: November is National Blog Posting Month. My fellow blogger Family Phil brought this fact to my attention. You're suppose to blog every day for the entire month of November. I didn't realize that until today, so this post is meant to actually be posted on November 1st. I'm retroactively posting this. So yeah, look for more of me.

So I’ve decided to blog again. Twice in three days?! WTF is going on?!?

I guess I’m here because I have a few free moments. But what to talk about? That’s something I’ve always struggled with when writing blogs. Themes. Motifs. Thoughts. Organization. You get the picture. :) I guess I’ll write about something minor that’s been on my mind, a slight annoyance, like those mosquito bites you get on the back of your hand that don’t seem to go away.

My annoyance is that I am unable to watch my team play! When I moved to New York, I became a Yankees fan. (ducking the heads of lettuce and rotten tomatoes being thrown) Being in a market different than what your team is rather difficult. I can keep track of the game via box score online, and I have ESPN send me texts every 3 innings updating me on the score of the game, but it just isn’t the same. I can now relate to a family friend who lives in central Oregon (previously Eastern Washington), and is a Red Sox fan. Oh the horror!! (both for being out of market and a BoSox fan)

I’ve heard about this MLB.tv website where they stream the video of game across the web, but idk. I’d much rather take lounging on the couch watching the game than hunched over at the computer desk. That’s just me.

Anyways, that’s my slight annoyance of the day. Of course it’s not life threatening, and I will survive watching the box score and eagerly awaiting text messages. Plus, I need to start weaning myself now, as later this month the updates will come every few days instead of every few hours. ("Why’s that?" you ask. Going to Provence, THAT’S why. (can I get a BOOYAH!?))

And with that, I’ve begun to get back into the swing of things. Look for more posts in the coming days.

I hear the same old phrase over and over again: "Where did you find this? Where do you find all your crazy links?" Well, to be honest, I’m constantly perusing the internet in search of the odd and bizarre. I’m going to try to start posting the daily findings and thoughts about what’s going on out there.

  • Britneyshears
Britney Shears. Comes complete with straight jacket. Love it. The ingenuity of people who are hearltess enough to take advantage and earn a dollar from a singer who has taken a turn for the worse never suprises me. While I did laugh at this, I feel bad for Britney. I hope she gets the proper help soon and is able to start turning out hits again like "Baby, One more time" "Oops… I did it again" and "Toxic."
  • Could I have voted in the 1996 election, my vote was for Griffey. Then he bolted for Sin-Sin-Nasti. Man, was I upset. The kid was no longer the kid. He had become part greedy side of baseball. He was plagued by injuries so I was happy about life. In the past couple of years, I’ve become a fan again. He’s struggling, but yet is a constant performer. The other day, I ran across this article on ESPN.com and remembered why I loved him. He’s so pure. He’s so amazing. He IS baseball. See you in the Hall, Junior.
  • I give credit for this next one all to a.ho. He posted this link on his site on Monday. Slag Patrol (that’s what the site is called!)(slag, for those of you who don’t know, is a woman of loose morals) posts some of the hottest dance music out there.
  • People in London are in a tissy over Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter dude) right now. He’s staring in Equus opposite Richard Griffiths. Saw Richard in The History Boys on Broadway. He’s a legit actor. Sounds like an interesting play.
  • Leaving my flat this morning, it was nice and sunny. Half way to school, the heavens opened up on me and I had forgotten my umbrella. Darn. Spring is upon us in London. It reminds me of Seattle so much.

That’s my life today. I ran across this great quote by Soichiko Honda (dude who founded Honda Motors, et al.) and thought I’d share. It might become my mantra, I’m still deciding.

"Life is short, but by achieving greater speeds a man can make his life a little longer and more affluent."

Teehee.

I think all this studying is starting to affect me in strange ways. I find this video HA-larious.
